Enriching Relationships for a Lifetime   with Dr. Gary Oliver

Vision

At CRE our mission is to impact and influence students relationally, emotionally and spiritually during their 4-year college experience. As we developed our vision and mission we have sought to address the question of whether the Christian College truly impacts the student relationally in a meaningful and lifelong way. Our initiative is designed to help students identify strengths and weaknesses and to teach and prepare them to cultivate healthy relationships in all areas of their life. The CRE University Relationships Initiative serves to compliment JBU's long-standing history of academic excellence and strengthen its commitment to awaken students to the value of, the nature of and the essential components of healthy relationships.

Core Aspects of the University Relationships Initiative

  • Implement a program that will provide students with an emotional and relational tool-kit aiding them in the integration process of Head, Heart and Hand during their 4 years of college.
  • Offer a core curricular class that gives students the opportunity to read and discuss issues such as being made in the image of God, emotional intelligence, the relational necessity of forgiveness, communication, resolving conflict and maintaining Godly, healthy sexuality.
  • Administer an assessment tool in order to determine what is helpful and is making a difference relationally, emotionally and spiritually in the life of each student.
  • Transfer this program to outside colleges and universities who are interested in training and equipping staff in order to impact their students relationally, emotionally and spiritually.

Commitment To The Vision

The clear teaching of the Bible as well as the repeated findings of social science research is that one of the most significant factors in success of any individual is his or her ability to establish and maintain healthy relationships. Whether in friendship, courtship, marriage, parenting or relationships in the workplace, a person's relationship skills influence, affect and in may ways determine their long-term success and happiness. We are committed to helping the student achieve this relational success that God designed when he created the idea of relationship.
